Wikipedia: To Trust or Not to Trust, That is the Question?
Trusting a source such as Wikipedia is a hard thing to do. Once something has lost its creditability it may take a while before anyone can start using it as sources or even for their own informational tool. I for one have always been told not to use it for anything, not even personal use. In a way its like using a random person as a source in a final research paper, what kind of grade would u expect. I do not feel that it would be trusted or taken seriously, at least I wouldn't. My answer is not to trust, what's yours?

They are first graders! Are you ready?
Watching this gives me hope, and it should give hope to anyone else who watches. Knowing that technology is entering the classroom and creating a positive learning environment inspires me to implement the same in my future classroom. The children are amazing and bring a new outlook on the possibilities of what technology combine with an urge to learn can do. It is important to show the students that they are the future and with the right tools, anything is possible.
Here’s what’s coming!
It is amazing that just a few years ago no one could have imagined that a child so young could operate a device so high tech. What many of use fail to realize is that a child is always learning, even if you are not intentionally teaching them. The saying a baby’s brain is like a sponge certainly comes into play.
Podcasts
SmartBoard Lessons Podcast Episode 138 (chemical bonds)-This podcast sounds like that it was done over a computer. I like it because it allows students to keep up with the different classroom lessons without being cooped up in the house or in a classroom and still learn.
KidCast Episode 62(some thought on video podcasting)-This podcast was helpful for me because it enabled me to understand the difference between an audio and video podcast. It is my first time hearing about a podcast and I do not know what it takes to make a successful one. Now that I know it will help me be more efficient in my productions.
EdTechtalk- Take education and technology then merge the two together this helps students learn. This podcast talks about the usefulness of the different forms of media technology.
ConnectLearning Episodes 90- The way the librarians explained about the way podcasts could be used were great ideas. Several stated that they would use the tool to get students more involved when doing research for different projects. The podcasts will create a more calm and improved environment.
MacBreak Weekly Episode 177(ipad)-This podcast sounded more like a radio broadcast. It was a good way to advertise the new device by apple.
This Week in Photography Episode 126-This particular podcast is use to discuss a specific topic which is camera. Each episode the team discusses new camera equipment. Their way of giving information was just to have a conversation.
Being technologically illiterate is a something that no one in this day and time should be, especially teacher. In The world today everyone is expected to know something about technology. Even though they might not they are effected by it. Teachers are the front line of education, and if they do not have the necessary weapons to start the war then everyone will fall behind. I agree with Mr. Fisch’s blog totally. It is hard to believe that if a teacher that is technologically illiterate is equivalent to a teacher 30 years ago not knowing how to read or write.

Michael Wesch: A Vision of Students Today
This video was not surprising. Seeing the different statistics and results just reminded me of the stress and hard work it takes to complete anything pertaining to school. I feel that I relate mostly to the part that stated indirectly that there is not enough time in my day to keep up with my life.
I do not completely agree with the part about technology saving us. I do feel that it could help, but only with our learning. Technology has actually caused the problem in my point of view. Everything in today’s classrooms, that is a distraction, is caused by some form of technology. If technology is used in the correct way then it can and will save us.

I feel that Kelly has a point when it comes to what teachers need to do to become a more efficient professional. Being a teacher is more than just going over what is needed in the curriculum. It is about getting the students motivated and involved. How can retention take place when there is no initial interest?
Teachers should not be afraid to take the passenger seat when learning in today’s society. Learning can take place by anyone at any time.

As soon as you click on the link, the numbers began to captivate you. Most are aware of the increasing number, but it still amazes when numbers are in front of you. As a teacher it may not seem important, but they are.
With the numbers in the form of media growing, it is imperative that the way you teach is formed around the media. Technology is the life of the world. If it is not used to teach then the children of our future will be lost.

Did you Know?
Did you Know?
This short presentation was a way to share with its audience the importance of technology today. Technology plays a role not only in the US, but also in our neighboring countries. The information at hand is a way to help strengthen awareness in all countries so that learning can persist to increase. Technology is and will persist to have an impact on the world. Statics prove that everyday life and its overall prosperity are effected by technology.
My view on the video and its message is a positive and knowledge grown. Even though it is right in front of us, we never stop to take in the way that technology plays a role in our life. Seeing the facts causes me to site and ponder on what life would be like without our mass use of technology. Jobs, families, and businesses would possibly be obsolete. Now I have to stop and think, how much do I know?
Mr. Winkle Wakes
It took a couple of views before I could really bring forth the content necessary for what I wanted to say. The information in this piece was a wake up for the school systems. Many schools are not utilizing their assets the way society is as a whole. We are teaching students but not using the number one thing that they need, Technology.
I feel that it is true what Mr. Winkle is so sarcastically stating, we are outdated in the schools. How can we prepare our students for success if they are not being taught with the tools that they will use in the real world. We as future teachers need to wake up and smell technology!
Ken Robinson says schools kill creativity
In this presentation, Mr. Robinson expresses a needed for a more direct approach to the arts and its nonconductive use in the school system. Starting a young age, most children are unknowingly separated from natural creativity. This is a cry for improvement in that field.
I share a weakness for the topic at hand. I feel that this was done by teachers in the past causing an unknown cycle to persist. Children are prohibited from expressive learning, therefore causing a structured learning environment. Those children have grown up to be our teachers, where as they are not familiar with creativity or do not like it. This cycle can be and will be stopped only if the correct tools are placed forth.
3. Vicki Davis: Harness Your Students' Digital Smarts
Watching this video gives me as a future teacher new ideas and hopes for what can go on in a classroom. When students are excited about school most would fill that learning is not taking place, but that is the exact opposite in Vicki Davis’ class.
I feel that in this video there are many things that teachers can learn. One thing that is not as frequent as it should be is the creative chance that the children can have. Another thing is the openness that is displayed by both the teacher and the learner. Most traditional classrooms are based on a one-way street, but now anyone can learn and anyone can teach.
